Individual Counselling

Individual therapy provides a safe, validating space to heal, gain clarity, and rediscover how you want to show up in your life. Whether you are struggling with grief, anxiety, depression, life transitions, parenting, and feeling overwhelmed, burnt out and perhaps hopeless, individual therapy can be a beautiful way to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences (both current and historical).


Child and Youth Counselling

Your child will meet with their therapist on a one-to-on basis. Your child will meet with their therapist on a one-to-on basis. Prior to booking the first appointment please reach out to the therapist you would like your child to see as we prefer to meet with parents first without the child present. Elements of play, expressive arts and talk therapy are incorporated depending on developmental appropriateness to help children/youth explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe non invasive manner.

Each therapist works with different ages. Elizabeth works with children ages 8 and older, while Jessica sees those ages 12 and older.

Parent coaching and/or support is available regardless of the age of your child and is best booked through Individual Counselling for the parent or Couples Counselling if both parents wish to be present.

Elizabeth is the founder of Illumination Therapeutic Services and holds a Master’s level in Social Work and is registered in the province of Alberta. Elizabeth works with clients ages 8 and up. She works with both individuals as well as couples, with a particular interest in supporting parents in understanding child brain development, reasonable expectations of their children (and selves) as well as strategies to build relationships with their children rather than engage in endless exhausting power struggles. Elizabeth considers it an honour as well as has extensive experience supporting those on their grief journeys, whether it is them who has a terminal or life altering diagnosis, a loved one, or the loss of a loved one. She uses an integrative approach including a variety of modalities including but not limited to: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Tapping, Expressive Arts, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Gottman Method. She has been working in the field for the past 20 years and has specialized in Addictions and Mental Health for over a decade with Alberta Health Services. Jessica is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) who is registered in the province of Alberta as well as able to see clients throughout Canada virtually. Jessica works with clients ages 12 and up, with a particular interest being in supporting those struggling with anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation as well as navigating life transitions. She uses an integrative approach with a focus on Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Polyvagal Theory, which supports clients to better understand their nervous systems, how to create individualized coping strategies based on what their nervous systems need, as well as heal the parts of them that are stuck reliving past trauma big or small. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and specializes in supporting adults, youth, and children as they navigate life’s challenges. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, family transitions, separation, social skills development, life changes, school performance, self-esteem, and managing stress.

Together, she will assist you to build self- awareness, explore your values and beliefs, and develop a deeper understanding of your thoughts and emotions.
